Cherry has to be one of our family’s favourite fruits! When I found out that there is a cherry farm here in Perth, I immediately joined their waitlist for cherry picking. Out of all the other fruit-picking farms that our family has done in the past, my kids are very happy to say that cherry-picking is their current favourite!
Carmel Cherry Farm is located at 10 Morton Road, Carmel, just about 30 minutes’ drive from Perth. It is a family-run farm in the Perth Hills that offers some of the reddest, juiciest, and plumpest cherries you have ever eaten. They also offer other seasonal favourites like lychee and loquat picking when available. The farm is a private property, so customers cannot visit without a valid booking.
Walking into the farm, you will be greeted by the staff and we were each handed a bucket to put our cherries. They taught the kids how to pick them off the trees correctly and how to look for the yummiest ones. We are allowed to eat as much as we like while picking during the one-hour duration that we are booked for. The trees are at an idea height for the kids to pick comfortably without bending or needing any adult help. The cherries are irresistibly delicious and juicy that the kids were eating more than picking!
Once you are done with all the cherries picking, all the produce you pick must be purchased. Local seasonal fruits and produce are available for you to purchase at the counter too. There is a toilet facility located at the back of the farm.
They are currently closed until their next season, which is November- December 2024. You can subscribe to their 2024 waitlist on their Facebook page and more information about cherry picking will be sent via email closer to the season.
