Wanneroo Riding Centre – Beach Horse Rides at Whitfords Beach

Recently, we had the chance to try out Wanneroo Riding Centre’s beach horse rides at Whitfords Beach, and it’s definitely worth sharing with other Perth families looking for something different to do this summer.

What makes this experience special is the setting – there’s something quite extraordinary about being on horseback at Whitfords Beach during the morning hours. The sessions run from 8:00 AM to 10:30 AM, and we’d recommend getting there early to make the most of the cooler temperatures and calm conditions.

Even with my 13-year-old daughter’s extensive riding experience, her first beach ride brought a whole new level of excitement. While she was familiar with horses, the unique beach setting offered a fresh challenge that the instructors helped her navigate perfectly. With a 90kg weight limit for riders, the experience welcomes both novices and experienced equestrians, and the staff’s thorough approach ensures everyone gets the guidance they need.

The 30-minute ride itself feels just right – long enough to get comfortable on the horse and enjoy the experience, but not so long that younger children get restless. Riding bareback through the shallow water was a highlight for my daughter, though be prepared to get wet!

Cost-wise, at $95 per person, it’s not a cheap family activity, but considering the unique nature of the experience and the professional supervision provided, we found it good value for a special occasion or holiday treat.
