If you are looking for a school holiday program that keeps children active, engaged and learning new skills, the UWA Holiday Sports Clinics are well worth considering. Whether your child is already sporty or simply wants to try something new, this program feels welcoming rather than competitive. Designed for children aged 6 to 16 years old, these clinics combine professional coaching with an inclusive environment that encourages confidence, teamwork and a genuine love of sport.

One of the standout features is the age-specific structure. Younger participants aged 6 to 7 take part in FUNdamentals sessions that focus on developing essential movement skills through enjoyable activities, while older children in the 8 to 11 and 12 to 16 age groups can choose specialist sports clinics that allow them to build skills in specific sports under experienced coaches.

This tailored approach helps ensure every child is appropriately challenged while still having fun. It is also worth noting that children aged 16 and over can check themselves and their siblings in and out of the program with parental permission, which adds a practical layer of flexibility for families.

Booking is completed online through the client portal by creating an account and selecting the relevant sports clinic and session times. A parent handbook is available with additional information. Children should bring a morning tea snack, a drink bottle and a hat for outdoor activities, and wear appropriate clothing and enclosed footwear.

Each clinic runs for three hours, with morning sessions from 9am to 12pm and afternoon sessions from 1pm to 4pm. Families who need a full-day option can book supervised lunch breaks between sessions, making it easier for working parents while giving children a structured and active day.

My girls were booked into the Tennis Holiday Sports Clinic, and one of the things that impressed me most was how well the session was organised. The coaches started by welcoming the children and explaining what the day would involve, which helped settle any nerves and set clear expectations. The session included a warm-up, followed by skill-building activities broken down into manageable steps. The coaches focused on teaching the fundamentals before moving into games where children could put those skills into practice, meaning every child had the opportunity to learn regardless of prior experience.

What really stood out was the level of encouragement from the coaches. There was plenty of positive reinforcement, with the emphasis firmly on trying hard, improving and having fun rather than winning. The balance between instruction, practice, small-group activities and games kept energy levels high and children engaged throughout.

The clinics are priced at $60 per child per clinic, with a discounted rate of $45 for returning families that is applied automatically at checkout. This represents good value given the quality of coaching, the structured program and access to UWA’s excellent sporting facilities.

Child safety is clearly a priority. UWA places strong emphasis on qualified supervision, hygiene practices and organised drop-off and pick-up procedures, giving families genuine peace of mind. If your child has a medical condition that may affect their participation, UWA Sport asks that you complete a Medical Management Form prior to attending so the team can provide appropriate care.

Beyond sporting skills, the program nurtures healthy lifestyles, positive social interaction, leadership qualities and respect. Children are encouraged to build confidence and make new friends in a supportive setting. For those who discover a new passion, the clinics also create pathways to continued participation through UWA-affiliated sporting clubs.

The UWA Holiday Sports Clinics offer a well-organised, engaging and professionally delivered school holiday program that caters to a wide range of ages and abilities. Whether your child wants to try a new sport, build on existing skills or simply stay active during the break, this program delivers an excellent balance of fun, learning and physical activity.
