If you are looking for authentic Korean dishes to try, you have to visit Tiger Baekban- the newest Korean restaurant SOR in Willetton. Baekban, translated from Korean, means a traditional Korean home-cooked meal with rice, soup and side dishes, and that’s what Tiger Baekban restaurant is all about!
Stepping inside, it felt like we were transported to a local Korean family restaurant in Korea.
You can tell they have put a lot of thought and effort into the restaurant, from their menu to little touches of Korean decorations in the shop and even to their utensils. Korean chopsticks are a lot different to use as they are thinner, heavier and flat.
The kids were very excited to find a kid’s menu that is not commonly found in most Korean restaurants.
Missy 7 had the Chicken Kkaseu CUB Meal, which comes with a Korean-styled fried chicken cutlet with tomato sauce, rice, soup and side dishes. The meal came in an adorable car-shaped plate, and the serving size was perfect for her.
She couldn’t resist but order a Korean fruit juice with their popular Korean cartoon on it.
Missy 10 opted for the Beef Bulgogi set which comes in a hotplate and was seasoned beautifully.
Another classic Korean dish is the Samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup). The portion is generous for sharing and the ginseng herb tasted subtle in the soup and not overpowering so the kids enjoyed it too.
We decided to get the Mung Bean Jeon too as not many Korean restaurants serve that. This savoury pancake with mungbean, minced pork and veggies is on the drier side but worked well with their soy dipping sauce.
Overall, we really enjoyed the hearty meals. The meal sets are on the pricey side but it does come with rice, soup and their banchan (side dishes) of the day. There were 4 side dishes in our meal set that were home- styled dishes and they changes daily so I feel it does make up for the price. You can also get their side dishes that’s made fresh daily available for sale in their fridge too.
Toilets are conveniently located inside the restaurant and baby chairs are available. There is ample free parking at the carpark just outside the restaurant. It gets packed very quickly during peak hours, so it’s best to make a reservation.
