The ultimate guide to the best playgrounds and parks in Perth! Kids love burning off energy at parks and playgrounds, and Perth’s got some of the best in the world. We’ve seen many new super parks open up recently with some impressive play equipment, features and facilities. Best of all, they’re all FREE!
We’ve listed sand and no-sand parks as we know this can be an issue with some parents not wanting their kids to play in sand. We’ve added categories to filter parks with water features, enclosed fenced playgrounds, partly fenced and non-fenced. Those with open water where you can visit the ducks and enjoy some wildlife during your trip to the park. Many parks have toilets. However, some local community playgrounds don’t, which can be a deal breaker if you’re potty training your little one or want to stay longer than an hour. So we’ve listed parks with toilets available.
Lastly, we’ve added details of where playgrounds are close to local coffee shops, cafes and restaurants. Therefore you can grab a bite to eat before or after your play, or grab a takeaway coffee.

The Village East Playground at Whiteman Park has undergone a complete reconstruction with all new play equipment and shade sails. The new equipment is easy for toddlers to navigate and adventurous enough to keep older kids entertained! The colourful new playground is located within The Village at Whiteman Park, across from the Village Cafe and next to the Mini Water Playground (open seasonally). If you haven’t heard about the amazing Jungle Park near Whiteman Park, you’d have had to be living under a rock. Little Chef and I were heading there for a play, after lunch in the Swan Valley. On our way, we stumbled on a brand new spot that we’d never heard about – Flamewood Park Playground in Brabham. Flamewood Park is a small, but brilliant playground that is mainly focused on climbing equipment. Hesperia Park in Ellenbrook is a fantastic new playground that features a big slide and 7 meter high lookout tower! As well as the playground, the park has plenty of grass with a big kick about area, shady spots, an exercise zone, nature play and lots of footpaths, perfect for a scoot. Have you checked out Ellenbrook Skate Park? If you have children that love to skate, next time you’re in the area be sure to throw the skateboards and scooters in your car.
