If youโre chasing a low-key treat by the water, Six Degrees at Mindarie Marina is an easy winner. About 30 minutes from the city, this boutique cafรฉ and ice cream spot makes the most of its marina-side setting, with sparkling water views and plenty of outdoor seating to settle into. The cafe works just as well for a quick post-beach stop as it does for a slower morning coffee with something sweet on the side.

The hero here is, of course, the ice cream. There are close to 30 flavours to choose from, spanning the classics through to richer, more indulgent picks like honeycomb, coconut and tiramisu. Thereโs also a playful line-up inspired by much-loved chocolate bars, including Cherry Ripe, Mars Bar and Ferrero Rocher.

Itโs not just about dairy-laden scoops either. Six Degrees also caters for different dietary needs, with gluten-free cones available and a selection of dairy-free sorbets in refreshing flavours like watermelon, green apple and passionfruit.

If youโre not in the mood for ice cream, the menu stretches to smoothies, shakes, coffee, sandwiches and light snacks, making it more than just a one-note dessert stop. Grab a table, bench or chair, settle in by the waterfront and watch the marina drift by. Itโs also dog-friendly outside, which only adds to its easy-going charm. One thing to note if youโre visiting with younger children: the marina boardwalk and canals arenโt fenced, so itโs worth keeping a close eye on little ones while you soak up the view.

We really enjoyed our ice creams – particularly the very creamy choc chip cookie, and found Six Degrees much better value than some of the chain ice creameries around Perth.

For a relaxed treat in a pretty waterfront setting, Six Degrees is a lovely excuse to linger a little longer in Mindarie.
