Sandy Cove Tavern, South Yunderup

Looking for a casual dining option for you and your family right on the canals of South Yunderup, just 10 minutes away from Mandurah?

Then look no further than the local bar and restaurant located on the main street leading into the suburb of South Yunderup and a five-minute detour off the Kwinana Freeway Pinjarra Road exit.

It is the perfect stop-off point if you’re enjoying a day on the water, as it has plenty of space to moor up your boat or a spot to launch your boat just around the corner. If you have a kayak or stand-up paddle board, you can just take off from the shore right outside the tavern.

Popular with both the locals and visitors to the area, it is a favourite spot to enjoy a meal or drink along with a children’s playground located right outside the restaurant, which you can easily view from the outdoor verandah seating area.

Please beware though this park does not actually belong to the tavern so it is not fenced and the road is located behind the park and the canals in front, so like always make sure to watch your little people.

The play park has been recently renovated so is in a great condition with shade during the summer months and has something to offer for both big and little children.

The menu is typical pub grub but done very well and are very generous on their portion sizes for both the main and children’s menu. I also feel like the prices are very reasonable for what they offer and there are always specials on which is great!

With different areas to sit in and enjoy there is something for everyone to enjoy at this friendly small venue with great service.

There is the bar side with a TAB, outdoor seating with a view or a more formal sit-down meal area, so something to fit everyone’s agenda.

During the summer months and weekends, it can get busy so make sure to book ahead if you are looking for a table especially if you’re a family or have a large group.

Like I said this venue is located right on the canals and located right in front of the tavern is the play park, a little man-made beach with a grassed area and some seating with a BBQ. So, if your just after a drink you can enjoy a drink at the tavern then enjoy your own picnic BBQ right outside!
