Playdates Kids Cafe, located at Karrinyup Shopping Centre, has quickly become the talk of the town among parents in Perth. This new venue offers a unique combination of a café and a play centre, catering to children of all ages.
Having had the opportunity to visit during their soft launch, there is so much to say about this exciting new place. While there are both pros and cons to consider, Playdates Kids Cafe offers a vibrant and fun-filled experience.
Upon entering Playdates Kids Cafe, visitors are greeted with a no shoes/only socks policy. However, the designated area for taking off shoes is quite small, which may feel cramped during peak hours. Nevertheless, the initial impression of the play centre is beautiful, with its cute and colourful decor, reminiscent of play centres in Asia.
The play area is well thought out, featuring a variety of attractions ranging from ride-ons, climbing structures, large ball pit and slides.
There is also “real-world” play areas featuring an organic grocery store, a hospital, and a pink beauty parlour with a dress-up room that would surely earn Barbie’s approval.
One little concern, while my child did not venture into the “sand” pit, it did raise a few eyebrows to see that the sand was composed of (small wooden cubes), which can pose as a risk if it were to fall into the hands of a small child. If you have very young children, you would need to watch them closely in this area.
During the soft launch, the café was not yet open and there was no menu to view. However, given the party catering menu, there may be an Asian influence, which sounds quite delicious.
The café is located off to the side of the play area, but unfortunately, it lacks visibility to the children’s play space. The dining area is not overly large, which might be challenging during peak mealtimes. Furthermore, it’s important to note that outside food is not permitted, something to be wary of when planning your visit.
Playdates Kids Cafe offers two spacious and charmingly decorated party rooms, providing a perfect venue for hosting your next birthday party. With several party packages available, starting from $898, they cover catering, decorations, passes, and even a gift for the birthday child. Whilst, the cost is on the expensive end of kids parties, the attention to detail is great and are certainly living up to the premium experience promise.
The entry prices for both weekdays and weekends are generally reasonable for a time-limited session, and adults receive a free coffee with their ticket. One can only hope that the coffee is really good!
Despite a few minor drawbacks and noting it’s still in its infancy stage, Playdates Kids Cafe offers a fantastic experience for children. The diverse play area, with its vibrant and interactive features, ensures that kids have a blast exploring and playing.
Whether it’s a rainy day or a special occasion, Playdates Kids Cafe is certainly a venue worth considering for a fun-filled adventure with your little ones.
