The much anticipated Optus Stadium is now open! Optus Stadium is a world-class multi-purpose venue and will host a range of sporting and entertainment events including AFL, cricket, rugby union and rugby league, soccer and concerts. At 60,000 seats it is the equivalent of about one and a half Subiaco oval and is the third-largest stadium in Australia.
The Stadium precinct includes a purpose-built train and bus station, stadium goers are urged to use public transport, the cost of public transport is included in all event tickets. ACROD parking is available within the Stadium Park and patrons will need to register prior to each event.
Optus Stadium has been built for fans and families regardless of age, experience or ability. Fans first features include;
- 4G coverage across the stadium
- 85% of seats are covered by the lightweight fabric roof
- 2 x 340sqm super screens at either end
- 1000 other TV screens strategically placed throughout the stadium
- 70 food and beverage outlets, 50 of which have views of the ground
- 50cm-wide seats that all include cup holders
- 12 lifts, elevators, 3 adult change rooms, parents/baby room, bigger cubicles
- 360-degree access at all GA levels
- 60 universal toilets
- 748 male bathrooms, 781 female bathrooms
- 600 bike racks
- 450 wheelchair positions and 327 seats for fans with other mobility requirements
- 10,000 additional seats can be used if needed
- Children’s activity zone within the Stadium
Food options include kids meals, healthy options, and meal deals – my children gave the hot chips a thumbs up. You are able to bring your own food and drinks into the Stadium, items must comply with the Stadium’s conditions of entry – no glass, knives, or cans.
There is a free Optus Stadium available from the App Store and Google Play, the app includes handy features such as; what’s on, stadium maps, offers and promotions.
Optus Stadium tours are available, the tour includes;
- Walk around the most state-of-the-art Stadium in the southern hemisphere
- Behind the scenes changeroom access
- Visit The Locker Room and Coaches’ Room
- Magnificent views of the city from the Sky View Lounge
- A broad array of WA sporting memorabilia
- Wheelchair and pram access throughout the tour
- Duration: Approx. 90 minutes
- Tour times: 10.00am, 11.00am, 1.00pm, 3.00pm
- Tours will not operate on event days or public holidays
