If you haven’t visited Carrington’s Bar & Grill lately, now is the time, especially if you love a good beer garden. Their newly refreshed outdoor space has completely changed the vibe, turning it into the kind of place you actually want to bring your kids!
What was once a dusty old loading dock has been transformed into a sprawling alfresco paradise. Think lush greenery, fairy lights strung overhead for those warm evenings, and plenty of room for big group catch-ups. There’s also a massive 4.5-metre LED screen, making it a top spot to watch live sport while soaking up the relaxed beer garden atmosphere.
The standout for families is the impressive new playground. It’s bright, modern and thoughtfully designed, with a multi-level layout that includes slides, climbing obstacles and loads of space to explore. Shade sails provide protection from the sun, the base is non-sand (yes please!), and the entire area is fully fenced so parents can actually relax while the kids play.
Food-wise, Carrington’s absolutely delivers. My 9-year-old and I shared the most delicious chicken burger, and it honestly hit all the right spots. The kids’ menu is also well thought out, with options like fish and chips, nuggets and chips, a burger and chips, and pasta, perfect for keeping little bellies happy. There are dining options to suit every mood, you can sit inside the playground area, grab a table in front of the big screen by the bar, or settle along the verandah for a more relaxed vibe.
Step inside and you’ll find classic old-school pub vibes done right — a relaxed, no-fuss atmosphere complete with a pool table, TAB facilities and that familiar local-pub feel. But honestly, the back is where it’s really at. I’d recommend parking around the back so you can step straight into the beer garden and get straight into the good stuff.
