I visited the cafรฉ on the first week of school holidays at 11am and was a bit worried that I should have booked a table. I soon realised most were heading to the restaurant and the Cafรฉ itself was actually quiet. There is paid parking but it wasnโt to expensive.
As you head into the cafรฉ you will see there is outdoor seating at the front, inside seating, and further outdoor seating against the river with the play area. To get to the play area there are steps, but a gate along the river foot path means prams can go into the play area if needed.
The play area features three separate cubby structures all joined together. There is also picnic style tables outside for you to sit at. The cubby houses featured mini picnic tables, climbing structures, boat steering wheels and a slide.
I sat down and ordered a coffee and hot chips for my daughter and both arrived quickly. I did also have lunch boxes for both my baby and toddler, which never seemed to be of a concern to the staff. Do keep in mind that if you order alcohol, you can not take it into the play area.
The menu features both breakfast and lunch items as well as items ready made in the cabinet. The portion sizes coming out of the kitchen were impressive and the service appeared to be fast.
The staff were lovely, and didnโt push us out the door when I saw we had stayed past closing without realising.
I also loved that it was close to the river with the gate in the play area that my eldest got to throw some pebbles. When I come back again I would bring a towel so that she could get her feet wet.
This will definitely be added to my list of cafes South of the river and more central.
