Taste of Italy in Forrestfield is a beautifully presented Italian restaurant that combines authentic flavours with a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere.

From the moment you walk in, the space feels clean, welcoming and well cared for, with friendly, accommodating staff who help make the dining experience feel special without being formal or fussy. On our visit, the restaurant was buzzing with diners, adding to the lively, European-style ambience.

Families are well catered for, even though thereโ€™s no dedicated kidsโ€™ corner, colouring-in or indoor play area. One big plus is the Playground located nearby. We requested a table by the window overlooking the play area, which meant our little ones could have a run around while we waited for our meals, all within easy view. This option is a real bonus for families with active children, allowing parents to relax a little more between courses.

The menu at Taste of Italy is extensive and full of crowd-pleasing favourites. Youโ€™ll find classic Italian comfort food alongside hearty mains and share-style dishes. We started with the cheesy garlic bread, which arrived warm and perfectly golden โ€“ a simple, comforting entree that went down very well with everyone at the table.

For our mains, we enjoyed a range of dishes that showcased the kitchenโ€™s generous portions and bold, traditional flavours. The Surf & Turf featured a 250g prime Scotch fillet steak cooked to preference, topped with creamy garlic prawns and served with chips and salad or vegetables. It was a substantial and satisfying plate, ideal for those who like a filling main.

The Chefโ€™s Choice risotto was rich, full of flavour and cooked to just the right texture. The chilli mussels were another standout โ€“ a full kilogram of fresh mussels served in a Napoletana sauce with garlic, chilli and fresh herbs, accompanied by woodfired garlic bread to mop up every last bit of sauce. This dish is perfect for sharing and packed with flavour.

Families will appreciate the bambini (kids) menu, which offers good value and generous serves. We ordered two kidsโ€™ spaghetti meals, each including a choice of apple or orange juice. The portions were quite large โ€“ more than enough for our younger children, who could easily have shared one serve. This makes the kidsโ€™ meals a great option for older children or those with heartier appetites, while younger ones might share to avoid waste.

We finished off our meal with a selection of desserts and coffee. The crรจme brรปlรฉe was smooth and creamy with a satisfying crack of caramelised sugar on top. The cheesecake of the week provided a sweet, indulgent treat, while the two mango gelatos were light, refreshing and very popular with the kids. To round things out, we grabbed a takeaway latte, which was strong and satisfying โ€“ just what coffee lovers need after a big meal.

Taste of Italy does a lovely job of delivering an authentic Italian-style experience in the heart of Forrestfield. The menu leans into traditional dishes inspired by classic Italian cuisine, with woodfired pizzas, hearty pasta favourites and fresh seafood options all featuring. Meals are crafted with fresh ingredients by experienced chefs, and the welcoming atmosphere makes it feel a little like being invited into a bustling Italian family kitchen.
