The Dinos Alive: An Immersive Experience has made its debut in Perth, inviting visitors to step back into the Mesozoic era. Located at the Northbridge Centre, features over 80 life-sized animatronic dinosaurs, including crowd favourites like the T-Rex, Stegosaurus and Velociraptor. The dinos move, blink, roar and shake, and if you’ve got a little dinosaur lover in the family, chances are they’ll be wide-eyed the moment they walk through the waterfall entrance!
Each area of the exhibition takes you through different prehistoric periods, and there are signs packed with facts. It’s a mix of education and entertainment, and perfect for curious little minds.
A favourite was the virtual aquarium, where you can check out sea creatures like the Mosasaurus. The video-mapping effects were pretty cool and gave a glimpse into what life under the water might’ve looked like millions of years ago. Kids will love throwing balls at the screens and watching the creatures react in real time.
For those who want to take things up a notch, there’s a virtual reality add-on where you can “walk” with dinosaurs.
One of the more hands-on parts of the event is the “Budding Experts” zone. Here, can dig for fossils, colour in their own dinosaurs and even watch them come to life on screen. There’s also a dinosaur race game, which is sure to get little feet moving!
There’s plenty of chances to take fun photos and get up close with the big dinosaurs, with stickers on the floor indicating where to stand to snap the best shots.
Tickets start from $27.90 for kids and $36.90 for adults, with free entry for children under 3. We had VIP tickets, which included access to the VR experience and a fun green screen photo souvenir.
Dinos Alive is in Perth until 23 November, so there’s still time to plan your visit. If your kids are dino-crazy, they’ll likely have a T-riffic time. Book your tickets here.
