We recently had a family staycation at Vibe Hotel in Subiaco for something new and I could not fault the place. The Vibe Hotel is right in the heart of Subiaco, within walking distance of local restaurants, parks, and the train station, making it an ideal city staycation hotel.

With free street parking right next door on the weekends, check-in was quick and easy. We stayed in a family suite with a Deluxe King Suite, Lounge and interconnecting Double room. With a porta-cot provided, we had all the space for the kids to sleep and still had room for us to stay up with room service and a movie without the kids being woken up. Note, ensure you ask for a porta-cot on booking.

As soon as we checked in, we headed up for the rooftop pool. With a stunning rooftop overlooking Subiaco plus day beds, it was a great spot to spend the afternoon. The pool isn’t heated, so just keep this in mind, but we still enjoyed it on a cooler day.

Following a dip, we returned to our room to freshen up and let the kids enjoy the large-sized bath in the bedroom. The family suite meant the kids had space to move about and we didn’t feel cramped.

We then headed up to Storehouse, the hotel’s rooftop restaurant and bar. With stunning city views, this was my first time visiting but I’ll now have it on my list for my next girls’ cocktail night. We headed there early just as it opened so that the kids didn’t cause too much chaos and the staff were so welcoming.

The menu is definitely “fancy”; well to me anyway. With menu items like beetroot gnocchi and pumpkin pie panna cotta. I ordered the Cauliflower Steak and hubby got the Chicken Maryland. Kids meals were well priced at $15 with kids under 4 eating free. The kids’ meals included steak and chips, fish and chips, pasta cassarecce (fancy man n cheese!) and mushroom arancini.  We ordered the fish and chips and mushroom arancini to the kids, knowing our youngest would just eat a bit from everyone.

We also enjoyed some mocktails and cocktails with the bar having all the standard items plus some of their own specialties. The food arrived quickly, and the portion sizes were very large. I thought I would be hungry after a vegetarian dish, but I struggled to finish it. We also had a side of duck fat potatoes which I devoured and some spiced lamb ribs so that was also probably why! The spiced lamb ribs were a stand out for me. An item I wasn’t sure on, but they were just perfection. All the meals, in fact, were delicious, and the kid’s meals were homemade and not just frozen chips, which was a nice change to the usual.

Following the meal we went back to the room to chill. The space meant there was plenty of room for the kids to sleep and us to watch TV in either the lounge or bedroom, and not wake them up. Two toilets also meant we could hope for a sleep in from the kids without waking them. That never happens though!

Overall we had a really great time and I would definitely recommend it for anyone with or without kids. It was nice to stay near the city but somewhere new.  We can’t wait for our next staycation!
