Willowbrook Farm Gingin

Willowbrook Farm Gingin – with a moo moo here and a baa baa there at Willowbrook Farm.

I heard about Willowbrook Farm in Gingin from a few families who had lots of good things to say about it. We recently bought a new camper-trailer and a puppy, so we were keen to check out somewhere that was local (only an hour’s drive from Joondalup) and dog-friendly.

On arrival we were greeted by the Farmer and his Wife who gave us a quick tour of the farm.

Our pitch was right next to the animal field so we could interact with the animals most of the time. Although expect early morning moo’ing, baa’ing and cockadoodle-dooing!! It is a farm after all. Other pitches around the site are mainly grassed base which is ideal for a cleaner and more comfortable camping trip.

The Farmer told us they would gather the kids up daily at around 4:30/5pm for feeding time for the animals.

The Farm has several animals including lambs, sheep, cows (some with large horns), alpacas and chickens. At feeding time all the kids on the farm gather around the feeding area and the Farmer and his Wife round up the animals. The kids were given bags of food and hay to feed the animals and had plenty of time for feeding and petting.

Willowbrook Farm is pet-friendly so we took along our 14-week old puppy, Chester, for his first ever camping trip. You have to keep your furry friends on a lead, so we purchased an extra long wire lead which we clipped onto the caravan and let Chester roam around our campsite with ease.

The kids entertained themselves playing in the sand, visiting the chicken coop, stroking the animals, riding their bikes (gravel pathways) and visiting other children in the campsite.

At the back of the campground is a huge communal area with BBQ and covered seating area. Perfect for ball games and getting together with other families in the early evening.

The weather was a bit drizzly on our weekend, so we drove into the local town of Gingin to explore. We didn’t find much so opted for morning coffee and cake at the CU@Park cafe which overlooks the river and has a great playground with swings.

The Gingin Observatory is also worth a visit while in the area.

On Sunday morning at around 9:30am, the Farmer and his Wife made a fresh batch of scones, fresh whipped cream and jam for everyone to enjoy on the main lawn. This was the highlight of the weekend for us and the kids!

We did encounter a rather unwanted visitor at Willowbrook Farm Gingin while we were packing up our tents!!

Willowbrook is our go to caravan park, over the years we’ve become very good friends with Lil and Bill (the farmer and his wife). My parents even painted all the paintings you’ll see around the farm!
