Lathlain Park is found to the north of Mineral Resources Park – aka the home of the mighty West Coast Eagles! It’s a lovely little spot, across the road from the small but mighty Lathlain cafe strip, and larger playgrounds at both Rayment Park and Tom Wright Park.
We’ve been along with some takeaways from Laika Café in the school holidays and been lucky enough to spy the Eagles training. As well as Laika (with it’s own basketball court), there’s Kettle Café and a fab new bakery to check out on the strip too. It really is a gem of a spot.
A pathway winds through the park, past small nature play areas, as well as a mini skate park and basketball court. There’s a bit of grass for a kick about too.
The first of two nature play areas features low level play, including stepping logs and a swinging rope hammock. Mature trees provide some dappled shade.
The second play area has a low rope climbing frame, small orange dome/cubby, and sensory equipment such as speaking cones and a noisy spinning thingy – I have no idea what that is called, but little ones will love making a racket!
A youth zone will keep older kids entertained. Be sure to take along a ball to slam dunk at the basketball court.
There’s a small skate park too. There are modern facilities here, with covered picnic tables, water fountains and BBQs, as well as toilets found a little away from the play area. There is plenty of parking around, though this is busy on WAFL and AFLW game days.
There’s even some random sculptures to spot!
Lathlain Park is a small but lovely park, perfect for chilling away from the busier playgrounds nearby.
Little footy lovers will be delighted to spot some famous West Coast Eagles kicking a footy on the oval at Mineral Resources Park too.
Find Lathlain Park at McCartney Cres, Lathlain.
