If you are looking for a fun family activity in Perth that won’t break the bank then you should consider giving lawn bowls a go!
I booked a barefoot bowling experience through Groupon for Osborne Park Bowling Club for my dad for part of his Father’s Day gift, as I wanted to try and share more experiences together as a family rather than giving a gift that they may or may not want. Who wouldn’t want to spend quality time with family or friends in a casual and fun setting?
After a few tips & pointers from the helpful staff our party of 8 (5 Adults and 3 kids) were off and the competitive nature of our family soon took hold, as we vied for the closest ball to the white Jack. My 7 year old was a natural and put us Adults to shame for a few games, beginners luck one might say!
The friendly banter continued throughout the 2 hour booking, with humorous accusations of unfair advantages – with shoes, without shoes, going last and going first, distractions from the others and not eating enough Weetbix for breakfast for the ball that barely reached the halfway mark (or eating too much when the ball would end up in the gutter).
We concluded our barefoot bowling experience with a complimentary drink from the bar, which we enjoyed in their large and spacious alfresco area on a balmy spring afternoon.
Our entire family enjoyed the afternoon and would definitely book again for another crack at the lawn bowls. If the weather is warm remember to pack a hat and sunscreen, they have icy cold water fountains located around the bowling greens which was refreshing after a couple of hours on the green.
I would love to come back and try out the bistro meals too!
The Osborne Park Bowling Club is also popular as a venue for functions and meetings, it is a great way to have access to great facilities without blowing the budget.
