Conveniently located on the outside of Hawaiian’s Park Centre in East Victoria Park, Mama Mochi is the perfect place to satisfy your sweet cravings, especially after a meal. This cosy mochi dessert shop offers a delightful selection of traditional chewy rice cakes filled with creamy ice cream. Not only are these treats incredibly delicious, but did you know that mochi is also low in fat, low in calories, and gluten-free? It’s a guilt-free indulgence you can feel good about!
Ordering at Mama Mochi is a breeze thanks to their self-serve booth. While there is only one machine available, which may lead to a short wait if there’s a queue, the staff works efficiently to ensure orders are served promptly.
As you wait, you and your little ones can enjoy watching your mochi being made right before your eyes through the window!
One item you absolutely must try is their Strawberry Daifuku, which is so popular that it often sells out very quickly. These delightful treats are made in limited batches, so if you spot them on the menu, don’t hesitate to grab them while you can!
The attention to detail at Mama Mochi is truly impressive. Each strawberry is carefully hand-picked, ensuring that only the freshest and juiciest fruits make it into their creations. Meanwhile, the mochi itself is handmade fresh daily, guaranteeing a soft and chewy texture that’s simply irresistible. We opted for the Strawberry Daifuku with biscoff filling, and it was hands down one of the softest and chewiest mochi we’ve ever had! The combination of the sweet, creamy filling and the plump, juicy strawberry was absolutely divine.
Of course, we couldn’t leave without trying their Premium Mochi Ice Cream as well!
Missy 6 chose the Fresh Strawberry Mochi Ice Cream Cup, which features fresh strawberries folded through the smooth, creamy ice cream. With every bite, you get a delightful burst of berry flavour; all wrapped up in the delightfully stretchy mochi.
Missy 9, on the other hand, went for the Mango Mochi Ice Cream. While it may have been a simpler choice, the ice cream itself was still incredibly tasty and creamy. The girls had an absolute blast seeing who could stretch their mochi the furthest with each bite!
As if that wasn’t enough, we simply couldn’t resist the adorable Mini Chubbies. These tiny, cute-as-a-button treats were the perfect little indulgence to round off our Mama Mochi experience.
These adorable little treats are not only visually appealing but also offer a unique twist on the classic mochi ice cream. What sets them apart is the Japanese wafer biscuit sandwiched between the mochi and the ice cream. This delicate, crispy texture adds an extra layer of crunchiness that perfectly complements the soft and chewy mochi. I like that their mochi skin is just nice- not too thin or thick. They make a filling and delicious dessert, definitely worth the hype despite the pricey price tag.
It’s worth noting that due to the shop’s compact size, there is no seating available outside the store. However, if you can resist the temptation to devour your mochi ice cream right away, you can always opt for takeaway and head across the shopping centre to John Macmillan Park. There, you can find a lovely spot to sit and savour your delightful treats while enjoying the surroundings.
