The Ballajura Aquatic Centre is a well-appointed local swimming pool which is a great asset to the community.
There is a toddler paddling area (0.30m) as well as a slightly deeper play pool (up to about 1m) which is great for the older kids. There is also a whirlpool in this area which provides a lot of fun. Swimming lessons were taking place during our visit and this minimised the space we could use however it certainly didn’t affect the enjoyment of swimming in our designated area. The parents and children in the lessons looked like they were having a great time and many joined the public area for a fun swim before and afterwards.
There are a number of swimming lanes and a spa for adults to utilise. The cafe serves hot and cold foods, including some hot meal options like fish and chips, toasted sandwiches and so on. You can sit inside at the cafe or at the tables in the outdoor area. There is also a BBQ located outside for patrons to use.
There are standard change rooms along with a “family” change room, which is slightly bigger than a disabled toilet. The centre also has a community wall that encourages pool users to attend local events and stay in touch with each other.
The pool is located next to a nature play area, a family centre, library and shopping centre/cafes and food outlets. This makes for a day out with lots to see and do.
While small the Ballajura Aquatic Centre certainly didn’t disappoint in terms of keeping kids entertained and being an overall enjoyable experience.
