Just 40 minutes north of Perth, Lavender Estate has reopened with new life and fresh charm – and we are here for it! Formerly known as Yanchep Lavender Farm, it’s now WA’s largest operating lavender farm, set across 26 acres with 44 fragrant rows that stretch an incredible 300 metres. The same team behind beloved family destinations Leapfrogs, Wanneroo Botanic Gardens, and Outback Splash are behind this exciting transformation. It’s a mix of farm, café, play space, and gift shop – the perfect recipe for a family day trip.
We headed out for a morning visit and absolutely loved it. The café flows beautifully, and while you can try your luck with walk-ins, we’d recommend booking a table ahead to secure a spot indoors or on the veranda.
Otherwise, picnic tables with umbrellas and wide-open lawns make walk-ins easy too – you can even borrow one of their picnic blankets and set up near the playground.
Food-wise, we tried the lavender scones (divine!) and the creamy lavender ice cream – both made with produce grown right here on the farm. Even my iced latte, not on the menu, was happily made by the super-friendly staff.
The menu covers everything from woodfired pizzas to grazing platters, burgers, chips, and kids’ meals – so there’s something for everyone.
The playground was a huge hit. Shaded and set in sand, it’s got slides, climbing ropes, a wobbling bridge, balancing logs, and plenty of spots for hide-and-seek. Just note: it sits alongside a busy road, with a slight drop on one side, so little wanderers may need extra watching.
Beyond food and play, Lavender Estate shines with its gift shop, stocked with lavender sleep sprays, skincare, teas, candles, and even honey – most made on-site. For those who can’t make the drive, their new online shop delivers Australia-wide, so you can take a little piece of lavender calm home.
For us, Lavender Estate is the kind of place you linger – sipping something cool, watching the kids play, and picking up thoughtful gifts on the way out. Relaxed, family-friendly, and full of charm, it’s a must-do for Perth families.
