If you’re searching for a one-stop spot to entertain kids of all ages – whether they’re water babies or prefer to stay dry – Wanneroo Aquamotion delivers on all fronts. This recently upgraded facility combines outdoor play, aquatic fun, shaded spaces and practical family amenities, making it a fantastic year-round destination.
From a fun Treasure Island-themed splash pad to a shaded playground, heated indoor pools and plenty of grassed picnic space with BBQs and gazebos, Aquamotion is packed with features that cater to children of all ages – and their parents too! It’s more than just a swim centre – it’s a place to play, relax and even sneak in a bit of fitness.
Wanneroo Aquamotion is a brilliant spot for families – and after spending an afternoon there with my toddler, I can absolutely see why it’s a local favourite.
Why Families Love Wanneroo Aquamotion
Our recent afternoon visit was packed with fun – both in and out of the water! My toddler, Kai, went from the playground to the splash pad to the indoor pool – all in one afternoon. The grounds are spacious, welcoming and designed with families in mind. Kai could have easily spent the whole day here, as he enjoyed both the water play and playground equally – finally stopping for some much-needed snacks on our picnic rug!
The Splash Pad – A Toddler’s Dream
The recently upgraded outdoor splash pad is hands-down a favourite with its interactive water play elements. With fountains, spray arches, sprayers, water cannons, a water slide and a big tipping bucket – all surrounded by soft fall flooring and plenty of shade cloths – it kept my water-loving toddler entertained for ages.
The Treasure Island theme adds an extra touch of magic – ideal for preschoolers and little ones who want to splash without needing to swim. There are also two deck chairs by the splash pad, along with shaded picnic tables nearby and plenty of space to spread out on the grass – perfect for a morning or afternoon play, or even a full day out. The splash zone is open during the warmer months (usually October to April).
Parent Tip: Just be mindful that the splash pad is located near an entry point to the indoor aquatic facilities, so keep a watchful eye on your little ones!
Aquatic Fun for All Ages
Whether you’re after swimming lessons, a splash with the kids or just a relaxing dip yourself, there’s a pool to suit:
Indoor 25m Pool – Heated to a comfortable 28°C, with a depth of 1m to 1.2m, perfect for lap swimming and general use. There is a walk lane, a slow lane, a multipurpose lane for kids to have a play in deeper water, a fast lane and lanes reserved for swimming lessons.
Leisure Pool – A family favourite thanks to its beach-style entry (0.2m–0.8m deep) and three playful water features. Great for little ones building water confidence.
Outdoor Deep Pool – At 1.8m deep, this fenced pool with shade covering is ideal for older kids and adults.
Wanneroo Aquamotion is a Watch Around Water accredited facility, meaning strong safety guidelines are in place. Children under 10 must be actively supervised at all times and those under 5 must have an adult in the water with them, within arm’s reach. Upon entry, little ones are given coloured wristbands to wear, helping lifeguards ensure everyone is safe and following the supervision policies.
Outdoor Playground
The fenced playground is the perfect play space for little ones who aren’t fans of the water just yet, those needing a break from the splash pad or those ready to dry off and head home. While the gate can sometimes be left ajar (a friendly reminder to close it behind you), the playground features a variety of climbing and balancing opportunities – think spider web net, rock climbing wall, stairs, a wobbly basket suspended from above and a balance bridge. There’s also a tunnel, dual slide, shop front, noughts and crosses panel, see-saw and motorbike rocker – all ideal for toddlers and younger children. The playground is shaded by cloth sails and mature trees, has soft-fall flooring for added safety and even includes a park bench for parents to supervise from.
Picnic Spaces
With free BBQs (two double burners), multiple shaded gazebos with tables and chairs and additional picnic tables scattered across the lawn, it’s the perfect spot for birthdays, casual catch-ups or weekend and school holiday fun. The gazebos can even be booked for events for a small fee. There are also moveable chairs and tables under a shade cloth near the entrance to the indoor aquatic facilities. Thanks to the expansive lawns, there’s plenty of space to lay out a picnic rug or enjoy some outdoor games.
Crèche
Parents with little ones (from babies over eight weeks old to children up to 9 years) will love the on-site crèche, open Monday to Saturday. Gold members enjoy free access, while casual bookings are also available. The crèche features both indoor and outdoor play areas, all safely fenced and shaded. It’s a fantastic option if you’re hoping to fit in a workout, class, spa session or even a sauna while your little ones are cared for nearby. Opening hours are Monday to Friday, 8:45am–12:00pm, and Saturday, 8:00am–11:00am.
Family Facilities
The family change rooms make transitions between dry and wet play easy and there are also male and female change rooms, all clean and accessible. There’s plenty of free parking close to the entrance and snacks and cold drinks onsite.
School Holiday Program
During school holidays, Aquamotion runs a fun and affordable kids’ program for children aged 5–12. With activities like arts and crafts, cheer squad, acrobatics, dance and drama, it’s a great way to keep kids entertained and active – and gives parents a well-earned break too.
Fitness Facilities
It’s not just about water play – Aquamotion also features a fully equipped 24/7 gym, group fitness classes and personal training options. So whether you’re into early morning workouts or prefer a quiet evening session, the gym is always open. Staffed hours are available for support and guidance too.
There’s also an onsite cafe, the Splash Pad, which serves up light refreshments throughout the day.
Top Tips
- Afternoons are quieter – We went in the afternoon and had the splash pad and playground mostly to ourselves.
- Don’t forget your hat and sunscreen for outdoor play.
- Bring a picnic rug – the grassed area is perfect for relaxing.
- Bring all the BBQ essentials for lunch.
- Always close the playground gate behind you for safety, especially since you are around water.
The Verdict?
Wanneroo Aquamotion is a fantastic all-weather option for families in and out of the northern suburbs, as it has so much fun in one place! Whether you’re chasing water play, a fun playground, a casual swim or a shady spot for a picnic, Wanneroo Aquamotion really ticks all the boxes. It’s the kind of place you’ll return to again and again! We’ll definitely be back – and next time, we’re packing a full esky and staying for the whole day. The splash pad alone makes it a must-visit in summer and the indoor pools and crèche make it a lifesaver year-round.
