As part of the WA Tree Festival running from 12 April to 10 May 2025, we found a fantastic free activity right in the heart of Joondalupโand itโs perfect for families! The Joondalup Public Library is hosting a Tree Treasure Hunt that adds a fun twist to your usual library visit.
Simply ask at reception for a pencil and the treasure hunt form, then explore the designated area of the library to find 10 hidden tree images. Itโs a low-pressure, educational adventure that gets kids moving and learning at the same time.
Once youโve completed the hunt, return your form to reception to collect a small prizeโdelighting little ones and sparking some tree-loving curiosity along the way.
This clever indoor activity is part of the broader WA Tree Festival, now in its third year, which celebrates the role of trees in our environment and our lives. Across Perth, the festival includes walks, workshops, cultural experiences, and educational talksโmany of which are already sold out. The best way to find whatโs still available is to check the City of Joondalupโs official festival page:
But even if you donโt nab a ticket to the bigger events, the library treasure hunt is still well worth a visit. With free underground parent parking, baby changing facilities, and even a vending machine onsite, the library is a family-friendly space where you can easily spend an hour or more. Pack a picnic and enjoy the grassed area outside for a relaxed outing before or after your hunt.
While thereโs a huge variety of tree-themed activities across the metro area, this quiet library experience is a charming way to get involvedโwithout needing a booking or spending a cent.
