Tucked into the Village precinct of Whiteman Park, Village West Playground is a fantastic, family-friendly play space thatโs ideal for a full day out. The Playground sits just a short stroll (around 200 metres) from the Visitor Information Centre, with the closest parking in Car Park 6, though itโs easily reached from anywhere in the Village area of the park.

The Playground is fully fenced, with a single entrance beside the picnic tables. This layout makes it easy to keep track of little ones, even when the Playground is busy. Almost the entire space is shaded by sails and mature trees, so youโll find plenty of relief from the sun while the kids play.

Inside the fence, paths and a soft-fall surface loop around the equipment, painted with train tracks โ perfect for imaginative play and for toddlers who like to โchugโ around the Playground pretending to be a train.

Play is spread across three main equipment zones, catering to a wide range of ages. Younger children will love the lower platforms, gentle slides and easier climbing options, while more confident climbers can tackle the higher structures and rope elements. Swings are always a favourite, and here youโll find a standard set alongside a popular nest swing near the entrance, which works well for babies with an adult, older kids relaxing together, or children who need a bit of extra support.

Climbing fans are spoiled for choice, with several rope climbing frames, net bridges and small climbing walls providing plenty of opportunities to scramble and test their balance. A rope balance bridge challenges school-aged kids to concentrate and coordinate, while still being manageable for brave preschoolers with a helping hand. Slides of different heights, seesaws and rocker-style play pieces keep everyone busy, and thereโs also a sit-on sand digger thatโs always a hit with mini construction lovers.

The setting within Whiteman Park adds a lot to the day out. Picnic tables are located just outside the fenced area, making it easy to set up a base for snacks or lunch while still keeping the Playground in view. The park grounds surrounding the Village are known for their lawns, shady trees and free barbecues, so you can easily turn a Playground stop into a relaxed family picnic or full-day visit. Toilets, the Visitor Information Centre and Village attractions are all within walking distance, and the Village Cafe sits nearby for coffee, ice creams or an easy lunch option.
Village West is one of four Playground areas within Whiteman Park, and it pairs especially well with the neighbouring Village East Playground and the seasonal Mini Water Playground, which are just a short walk away in the same precinct. Families can easily spend a full day rotating between Playgrounds, visiting the transport museums, jumping on a tram or vintage train ride, or exploring the wider bushland and picnic spaces across the park.

With its excellent shade, fully fenced layout and a good mix of equipment for toddlers through to primary school-aged children, Village West Playground is an easy recommendation for families. Whether youโre planning a Swan Valley outing or just looking for a destination Playground where you can relax while the kids burn off energy, itโs a brilliant base for a day at Whiteman Park.
