The choice of not one but two coastal cafes, ocean views and a beachside park, yes, please! Ocean Drive, Quinns Rocks is home to Quinns Shack a favourite with the locals and new kid on the block Luna n Soul. Both situated next door to one another, and always filled with locals or visitors, either one is a great choice.
Quinns Shack is often my go-to when on a morning coast walk. Owner Dave knows his regulars by name and their orders. Almond Flat White with two sweeteners always. He also offers quick bites, and their breaky wrap has been my regular request for years. Sit outside on the deck and enjoy the views or get it take away and go sit at the park opposite and relax by the ocean. During the cooler months he had a wood fire inside to keep you warm, and during the warmer months they have regular sundowner sessions. Their facebook page “Quinns shack tribe” is always up to date with special nights they host. Jazz nights, themed food evenings and cocktail specials, there’s always something new going on.
Luna n Soul is the newest café along this beach side drive and it’s made itself known. Their menu is filled with delicious meals from acai bowls, crunchy coco granola to brioche French toast and pumpkin croquettes. Their coffee sizes are generous with there mugs being a small bowl which is a welcomed gift from any tired parent.
This café again promises a gorgeous coastal view, and despite its small appearance they manage to have plenty of seating so you not waiting to long for a spot on a busy day.
I met a friend here on a busy Saturday and even with a large pram I only waited 5 minutes for a table. We shared the pumpkin croquettes and the garden goodness and both portion sizes were generous. In fact all the meals I saw come from the kitchen were decent sizes so it’s definitely worth a visit for a filling meal.
Directly opposite from both cafes is Frederick Stubbs Park. With a huge grassed area and sand floored park it’s a nice spot to sit and watch the ocean or grab your takeaway and let your kids have a play. Bring some buckets and spades and the kids can enjoy the beach play while at the park if you don’t want to actually be on the beach.
Hit this beach up for an easy morning out with or without the kids.
