Mount Hawthorn Playgroup offers a welcoming environment where young children and their caregivers can connect, play and grow. Open to families with children from birth until the year they start pre-primary, the playgroup provides a stimulating and safe place for learning through play.
The playgroup runs multiple sessions daily, Monday through Friday, all year round. They operate from 9am-5pm Monday to Friday with three sessions per day. These sessions are generally unstructured free play, allowing children to explore at their own pace, though some groups may occasionally plan specific activities.
New members are always welcome to attend up to two trial sessions before committing to join. The playgroup is very accommodating to existing groups (like mother’s groups) seeking a vacant session, with options for groups of up to 15 people.
In addition to its regular sessions, Mount Hawthorn Playgroup is also available for venue hire- making it an ideal spot for children’s parties. The space is attractive and affordable, with a hire fee of just $100 for members and $180 for non- members. (May 2025)
You will have full access to a well-equipped kitchen, cosy lounge suites and a range of activities the kids will love. Inside, kids can enjoy soft play, dress ups, role play toys and more.
The outside area is fully enclosed with a toddler-friendly playground, soft fall ground, outdoor toys, a cubby house, sandpit, swings and much more to keep them well entertained.
We’ve attended two parties here with our three-year-old and one-year-old, and each time it was safe, fun and full of laughter. To top it off, the venue is right next to one of our favourite spots, Braithwaite Park, with its fabulous playground suitable for all ages, the celebrations continued well into the afternoon.
