We were staying at Pan Pacific Perth, and as well as the beautiful rooms, the food was a BIG highlight for the entire family. The promise of a buffet breakfast at Monty’s Restaurant got the kids extra excited, and this spot has all the ingredients for a delicious start to the day. You don’t even need to be a guest at the hotel to enjoy a tasty breakfast in the city at Monty’s.

After dragging ourselves out of our very comfy hotel beds, we hopped into the lift, straight to the eatery’s entrance.

The focus on the kids settled them immediately as we were seated, with the waitress offering hot chocolates for them and the essential morning coffee for the adults. The hot chocolates were an instant success, the J Man declaring them the best hot chocolate ever. Plus, I was treated to the cutest latte art I ever did see! I had a debate with the kids on whether it was a bear or dog – either way it was very impressive. A barista-made coffee is another lovely touch, and my flat white was spot on.

The freshly cut melon helped us all feel a little healthier before the bacon-fest, with the girls starting light with fruit and yogurt.

Miss M even got a little adventurous and tried dragon fruit for the first time. Mr H made a b-line straight to the bacon and scrambled eggs.

As well as fresh fruit, we could take our pick from a big selection of cereals, pastries, make your own bagels, toasts and more.

Lulu was curious about the fresh omelet and egg station manned by a chef.

On the second morning, she enjoyed an extra cheesy bacon omelet, freshly made just for her.
Plus, there are all the hot brekkie favourites found around the large breakfast buffet – bacon, sausages, beans, roasted tomatoes, hash browns and buttery scrambled eggs.

Whether you crave a healthy start to the day, or a hearty cooked brekkie – you’ll find plenty of options here. There were even healthy cold-pressed juices to sip, I really enjoyed the raspberry, lime and dragon fruit combo. The green juice was also tasty. I was pleased to see a great selection of GF dishes (like coconut chia pots), cereals and breads, with a dedicated gluten free toaster.

The unexpected star? Cinnamon toast. Simple but wildly popular with the kids, it quickly became one of those tiny holiday details they’ll remember long after our trip is over. There are plenty of changing options too, with waffles one day, veggie frittatas the next. So even if you’re staying at Pan Pacific Perth for multiple nights, there will always be something new to try.

There’s an Asian station too, with dumplings, soup and rotating Asian-style dishes.

For the adults, the appeal of breakfast was just as much about the relaxing atmosphere as the food. There’s something satisfying about starting the morning with someone else making the coffee; no dishes, no negotiating. Just an easy, delicious beginning to the day, where everyone can choose their own brekkie adventure.
