H&N Strawberry Farm

H&N Strawberries, Gnangara

Open Sundays from 8th September 2024 for pick your own. See Facebook page for details.
Price. $15 a box about 3kg cash or EFTPOS

Does your family enjoy strawberry picking? I know mine does! So we recently visited H&N Strawberries in Gnangara to pick our own fruit.

On arrival, we collected a box from the staff at the gate. This is where you can opt to pick your own berries or pick up a box already picked for you.

Pick your own strawberries at H&N Strawberries costs $15 per box, and you’ll yield around 3kg. There is no entry fee and no time limit. Take as long as you like. In addition to this, you are welcome to eat as many berries as you like as you go. Which Miss 6 and her Dad did!

If you opt to pick up a pre-picked box, this costs $25 per box, and weighs around 3kg.

We headed right down the back of the farm to find our strawberries. The farm had been busy that weekend, so it didn’t initially look like there were many berries available. However, once we got down on the ground picking, there were lots of big red strawberries hiding under the leaves.

As our visit was at the beginning of the season, the berry sizes were a little mixed. We found some were whoppers and some small but sweet and juicy.

Miss 6 enjoyed hunting to find her berries. She’s a kid who doesn’t often enjoy fruit, but she happily ate a few fresh berries as we picked. Therefore, if you’re finding it hard to get your kids eating fruit, this might be a great way to introduce them to strawberries. Strawberries always taste better fresh off the plant!

H&N Strawberry Farm

This strawberry farm, similar to many of them, has sandy pathways to navigate. The rows are also quite narrow to walk down. So bringing a stroller or pram probably won’t work well. The wheels may get stuck. On the other hand, a Baby Bjorn or sling might be the better option if you’ve got your baby.

I’d suggest from my own experience wearing clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting grubby. We came home with sand and squished berry juice on our pants and dusty shoes. Sunhats and sunscreen are also a very good idea to avoid sunburn in the heat of the day. Likewise, don’t forget to pack a bottle of water. It’s thirsty work picking fruit, and as far as we could see, there wasn’t a shop to buy cold drinks or ice creams.

The farm asks that patrons stick only to the areas they’ve opened to for picking and that they follow signage. Often, signs are in place for your own safety, and areas blocked off to allow more berries to ripen up for more picking later.

Parking is available on the roadside outside the farm. Please slow down whilst approaching the farm, and be aware of other families coming and going.

To sum up, we found H&N Strawberries in Gnangara to be a pleasant farm to visit. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the berries were sweet and juicy. We’ll definitely we back again!

    Hi
Just wondering if you are open tomorrow morning for strawberry picking. I like to know where to go if you are closed.

Best to message the farm directly via their Facebook page, Rosemarie. They post updates to their opening hours on their page as they change. 🙂
