Ashfield Reserve Play Space
Ashfield Reserve Play Space in Perth’s eastern suburbs is a hidden gem. Sharing the parkland with Ashfield Oval, this spot has something for all ages.
We dropped in for a play during school holidays to burn off some energy. This was a great spot for it, too!
Miss 5 enjoyed that there is lots to climb at Ashfield Reserve Play Space. This playground is packed with climbing ropes, climbing walls and ladders. The rope web was a particular favourite.
The playground also features a curly slide and two regular slides, a wobbly bridge, and a shop front for imaginative play.
Miss 5 also enjoyed the monkey bars, flying fox and balancing platforms.
In addition, if your child loves swings, Ashfield Reserve Play Space has swings in abundance. There’s a stand alone birds nest swing, and a bank of five swings towards the back of the playground. These include two toddler swings, two regular swings and an all-abilities swing with a harness. This rear area also includes a rocker swing.
With the play area attached to Ashfield Reserve, older children have access to the ovals. These have a small sealed road running between them and tennis courts adjacent. Therefore, if you’re dropping in for a play with a mix of tweens or teens and younger children, there is something for all ages. Little ones can play while bigger kids practise their ball skills or ride bikes or scooters.
Pluses for the play area in my book area are the shade and that there’s no sand. Shade sails cover most of the play area, and what these miss the large, well established trees cover. I’m not a fan of having to clean sand out of little shoes before getting in the car. So the rubber soft fall base is a winner to me. There’s also a shaded picnic table and plenty of grassy space to spread out a rug for a picnic.
Another plus for this play area is the onsite toilets. There’s a large toilet block opposite which includes a baby change area.
