Rushmore Green Toddler Playground in Bushmead is a lovely little spot designed especially for Perthโs smallest adventurers. Tucked within the Bushmead estate in the City of Swan, itโs ideal for babies, crawlers and young toddlers who arenโt quite ready to tackle nearby Giant Park further down the road.
One of the standout features is that the entire Playground is fully fenced and gated. This gives parents and carers peace of mind, allowing little ones to roam and explore without easy access to roads or the surrounding water catchment area.

Inside the fence, all of the equipment is low to the ground, so itโs perfect for children who are still a bit wobbly on their feet or at the crawling and cruising stage. The design minimises the risk of big tumbles, making it a gentle and confidence-building first Playground.

The play space has a soft, white sand base in parts and a nature play feel, with logs and rocks to climb over, balance on and step between. This is great for developing gross motor skills, coordination and imaginative play.

Children can dig in the sand, clamber along the logs, or simply potter around and explore at their own pace.

Just outside the fenced area, there is a paved shelter with a barbecue, picnic table and water fountain overlooking the Playground. This setup makes it an easy spot to meet friends for a casual catch-up, throw on a sausage sizzle, or celebrate a low-key birthday while keeping an eye on the kids playing safely inside the gate.

In front of the Playground youโll also find a generous grassed area, perfect for a picnic rug, a game of chasey or a kick of the ball.

Pathways wind around the nearby water catchment area, giving slightly older siblings a spot to ride their scooters or bikes while younger children stay in the toddler Playground. The surrounding streets are quiet estate roads, adding to the relaxed, local park feel.

There are a couple of things to keep in mind when planning a visit. There is currently no shade structure over the actual play equipment, which means the rubberised surfacing and equipment can become very hot during the peak of summer. Itโs best to visit early in the morning or later in the afternoon on warmer days, and donโt forget hats, sunscreen and shoes. There are also no toilets on site, and parking is limited to nearby street parking, so itโs worth being prepared before you arrive.

Despite these drawbacks, Rushmore Green Toddler Playground is a welcome addition for local families, offering a safe, simple and age-appropriate play space for little ones. If youโre in the Bushmead or Swan Valley area and looking for a fenced toddler-friendly Playground, this peaceful neighbourhood park is well worth a visit.
