Did you know that there’s a nature play area in the Perth foothills suburb of Bushmead. While it’s much smaller than the estate’s “Giant Park”, the simple Ridge Hill Green Nature Playground can provide plenty of entertainment for children that love to be in the great outdoors and love to climb.

The beautifully made timber play structure features a double slide – perfect for kids to race siblings or friends.

Very small children may have trouble reaching this, as there’s a flat net to climb to get to it, as well as big logs to climb.

On the other side there is a small climbing wall with grips and foot slots. Little kids may be able to climb this, then step from the small platform, and onto the slide.

There are also some vertical logs for climbing between.

A trail made of tree stumps is great for balancing on and jumping between.

Another wooden structure is like a big wig-wam made out of sticks.

For parents and carers, there’s a couple of picnic tables and stools to sit on, though there’s no shade. There are no toilets or water fountains onsite.
If you’re planning on visiting on a sunny day, I’d suggest taking a picnic rug and find a shady spot on the lawns.

The Ridge Hill Green Nature Playground in Bushmead is quite hidden from the road and is in the part of the estate reached by the easterly entrance, close to the bottom of the Zig Zag.

While you’re there, check out the brilliant Giant Playground.

Plus, the wonderful Zanthorrea Garden Centre (also with a sculpture walk and playground) is less than a five-minute drive away!

If you live in the area, the small but beautiful Ridge Hill Green Nature Playground is worth checking out for a change of scenery.

Find Ridge Hill Green Nature Playground at the corner of Broadmeadows Dr and Roseneath St, Bushmead.
