Moresby Street Reserve Kensington

Moresby Street Reserve in Kensington is a lovely little neighbourhood Playground that’s especially well suited to toddlers and younger children. Tucked on the corner of Moresby Street and South Terrace, it feels like a quiet local spot, but still has enough equipment and open space to keep little ones happily occupied. A big bonus is that Hoopla Café is just across the road, making it easy to grab a coffee or snack before or after a play.

The Playground is sand-based and designed with younger children in mind. There’s a small climbing structure featuring a double slide, a mini climbing wall and a rope bridge, offering just the right amount of challenge for preschoolers building their confidence. Kids will enjoy the wobble board and the little journey between platforms to reach the slides, while interactive features like the clock and ABC wall add a playful learning element.

One of the standout features for toddlers is the sweet house-and-car play set. It’s perfect for imaginative games of shops or “going on a trip”, with doors to open and close, knobs and levers to twist, spaces to crawl under or through, and plenty of opportunities for sand play. It’s ideal for children who aren’t quite ready for the higher climbing equipment but still want to explore and role-play.

A swing set sits alongside the main structure, with both a toddler bucket swing and a standard swing so siblings of different ages can swing together. The whole play area is mostly enclosed: there’s fencing along the car park side and a low limestone wall along the edge that faces the grass. Many parents perch on this wall to supervise, as the only bench is near the entrance and doesn’t directly face the play equipment.

Beyond the sandpit and structures, there’s a patch of open grass with a small path running through it, giving kids room to run, kick a ball or play simple games. It’s not a huge reserve, but it’s more than enough for a relaxed play, especially for families with younger children who don’t want to wrangle a massive park.

 

Parking is straightforward, with free street bays available along Moresby Street and nearby streets. With its mostly enclosed layout, toddler-friendly equipment and handy café nearby, Moresby Street Reserve makes a great quick-stop Playground for local families or anyone passing through Kensington with little ones in tow.
