Tucked in behind The Bayswater Hotel on Coode Street, Halliday Park is a relaxed neighbourhood park with loads of open green space and a simple, sand-based Playground thatโs ideal for a low-key play. Named after early Bayswater settler Henry Thomas Halliday, the park has a welcoming, local feel and plenty of room for kids to burn off energy.

The main play structure sits in a generous sandpit and suits a mix of ages. Bigger kids can tackle the two rock climbing walls, test their strength on the monkey bars, or zip down the firemanโs pole. Thereโs also a rope spiderweb for climbing and hanging about, which is great for building confidence and coordination.

Younger children havenโt been forgotten. Underneath the main structure is a little cubby-style play space with a play house door thatโs perfect for games of shops or house. Up top, a steering wheel and a small telescope invite imaginative play โ think captaining a ship or spotting pirates on the horizon.

The long enclosed tube slide is a real highlight and is likely to be lapped again and again; kids love the thrill of whooshing down and the echo of their voices inside the tunnel.

Separate to the main structure is a swing set that includes a birdโs nest swing, which is ideal for siblings or friends to share, as well as a traditional-style spring rocker that tends to be a favourite with toddlers and preschoolers. With a full sand base, itโs worth popping a few sand toys in your bag for extra digging and building fun.

One of the standout features of Halliday Park is the amount of flat, open grass beyond the Playground. It stretches out far enough to easily set up a cricket pitch, kick the footy, throw a frisbee or let little ones zoom around on scooters on the grass. Thereโs also a memorial on the far side of the park, adding a bit of local history to your visit and a quiet spot to wander over to if youโre exploring with older kids.

Close to the Playground youโll find a solid picnic table, making it easy to set up a simple morning tea or picnic lunch. You can pack your own or pair your park visit with food and drinks picked up from nearby cafes or The Bayswater Hotel. Street parking is available on Drake Street or behind the hotel, just a short walk to the play area.

Halliday Park is best suited to families looking for an uncrowded, traditional Playground with plenty of space to run, climb and play. Itโs a good option for mixed-age groups who enjoy both structured play equipment and big grassy areas for ball games.
