Why do we love playgrounds near cafes?
Kids love going wild in at a park. But sometimes parenting is hard or tiring, what with sleepless nights, teething and everything else. Sometimes parents and carers need to exercise self-care. Stopping at a family-friendly coffee shop or restaurant while taking the kids out to a playground can help. Adults can grab a much-needed coffee or bite to eat. Likewise, kids can enjoy a toy corner and very soon cut loose in the park. Everyone wins!

As a mum of a busy 2-year-old toddler, I couldn’t be more thrilled with Joondalup Square playground, located opposite the gigantic Bunnings Warehouse. The Tom Simpson Park has a new playground (opened July 2018) and is a welcome addition to the grassy Mullaloo foreshore! The rusty, tired old metal play structure on the north end of the park has gone and now there’s a fun-tastic wooden structure, as well as a little nature and water play and a toddler area too. The playground is dominated by a large wooden fort-like structure, best for older kids, as all the ways to the top are via climbing nets. Located at Pinneroo Point is a playground suitable for younger children. The sand-based playground features a climbing frame with two slides, a rope ladder and monkey bars. There is a super cute Pinnaroo Point play cafe which I am sure will be popular for imaginative play. There are two swings, one of which is high backed. A cubby climbing structure. The Burns Beach Playground is found at a grassy park, overlooking Burns Beach. It’s location, as well as it being slap, bang opposite the delicious Sista’s Burns Beach Café, make it an ideal spot to combine a play at the park with a swim, walk along the coastal pathway or family meal.
