Families are invited to enjoy hands-on school holiday activities at John Curtin Gallery and 139 St Georges Terrace.
Drop-in to the Once Known exhibition at 139 St Georges Terrace and reflect on the Noongar season of Makuru. In this free drop-in activity create a colourful paper weaving and learn about the Makuru season, and the unique environmental changes to Noongar Country.
Drop in for a free self-guided school holiday activity at Once Known. Suitable for a range of ages, this hands-on activity encourages creativity, cultural learning and connection to the seasonal changes of Country.
Create a piece of wearable art inspired by John Curtin Gallery’s current exhibition Christopher Pease: Terra Nullius.
Young artists will start with a guided tour of the exhibition, followed by an exploration of native flora and fauna. To finish, they will design and create their own wearable bush brooch to take home.
Using cardboard, drawing materials and pattern-making techniques inspired by Noongar plants and the artworks of Christopher Pease, participants will transform an animal of their choice into a unique piece of wearable art celebrating Country, creativity and connection to place.
