In our first after school series for 2025, participants will work with local improv-musician and sound artist Saskia Willinge to explore what music can be, what it can include, and how we listen to the world around us.
For Saskia, music includes all the sounds around us, meaning that any sound can be music, and that any object (played any way) can be an instrument. Through a series of fun exercises and activities, participants will learn to change how they listen to and engage with the world around them, as well as having lots of opportunity to be really silly and let loose! Meeting weekly at Wireless Hill Museum, participants will have the unique opportunity to use the collections and histories of Yagan Mia Wireless Hill as inspiration to create new stories through sound and music in different formats.
Collaboration and solo practice will both be explored, according to participants preferences, with (optional) potential for a performance at the end of the term. No instrument or prior musical knowledge is needed to take part in this ART CLUB, however anyone with experience playing an instrument is welcome to bring it along and incorporate their knowledge.
Dates: Every Tuesday from 11 February to 1 April.
Time: 3:45 pm – 5:00 pm each week
Venue: Wireless Hill Museum, Yagan Mia Wireless Hill
