If youโre looking for a great spot to set up base for a day in Augusta, the Hardy Inlet foreshore is a top choice for families. This is where the Blackwood and Scott Rivers meet the Southern Ocean, and itโs just stunning. We spent hours here because itโs so easy with kids in tow. There’s plenty of picnic tables and shady trees to sit under and take in the view.

The water is super shallow and calm, making it perfect for the little ones to splash around or for a bit of paddleboarding.

If youโve got a fisherman in the family, like us, pack the gear! You can catch everything from whiting and herring to black bream and even mulloway.

The kids absolutely loved the nature playground found right in front of Turner Holiday Park. There’s climbing, balancing, plus a swing set.

Itโs got a great boat theme and is beautifully shaded by peppermint trees, so you donโt have to worry about them baking in the sun.

We also took a lovely stroll along the boardwalk toward the Ellis St Jetty.

Keep your eyes peeledโwe spotted dolphins and pelicans, and if you head over to the fish cleaning station at Seine Bay, youโre almost guaranteed to see some massive stingrays hanging around for a snack!

Can you spot the pod of dolphins?

And if you want a snack, simply pack a picnic or grab a takeaway from the Colourpatch cafe over the road.

Parallel street parking gets busy in peak times, but we always found a spot. Hardy Inlet Foreshore is a lovely place to spend a few hours enjoying the great outdoors.
