Discovery Parks Bunbury Foreshore – When you picture a relaxing holiday in Western Australiaโs South West region, smooth sandy beaches, calm blue water with dolphins cruising by and sitting on the deck of your accommodation listening to the peace and quiet spring to mind. Children perhaps imagine a lot more activities, like swimming in the pool, playing on the beach, go karting and bike riding.
Discovery Parks Bunbury Foreshore ticks all the boxes for whatever getaway you are imagining. Set right across the road from the beautiful calm Koombana Bay beach, and backing onto the Leschenault Inlet, there is no shortage of beach-related activities. A highlight for us was watching the dolphins which live in the bay, and getting in the water with them at the Dolphin Discovery Centre which is just a few minutes walk away.
Discovery Parks Bunbury Foreshore is located in Bunbury, set just minutes from the town and beach. There are restaurants, shops and even cinemas all just a 5-minute walk from the park. There are parks and playgrounds nearby, with Skyes Foreshore Reserve adjacent to the holiday park, with a great range of play equipment. Bunbury is just over a 2-hour drive from Perth, an ideal distance for a weekend getaway or even a midweek break and is a great location to base yourself to explore our beautiful south-west region.
On site, there is a range of facilities including a pool and childrenโs pool and an inflatable jumping pillow which was loved by all the children. My Mr nearly 2 loved jumping around on here, although he did need an adult on there with him (we werenโt complaining- we thought it was quite fun too!).
There are tennis courts and a basketball court, go-karts and bikes to hire, a games room, poolside cafe, BBQ and plenty of green grass to play on. If you are camping there is a camp kitchen, a bathroom block, shaded picnic tables, and a laundry available.
The staff are all friendly and very helpful and were more than happy to give us some pointers on where to eat and what to see. There is so much to keep the children busy and engaged and lots of opportunities for fun family activities too.
Discovery Parks Bunbury Foreshore offers a range of accommodation to suit your holiday style. Whether you are camping, caravanning or wanting to stay in a cabin or villa you will find something in your price range. There are ensuite, powered and unpowered sites for camping and caravanning.
There is also a range of cabins and villas available, with cabin choices including economy, superior and deluxe. All of the villas are deluxe with some offering a waterfront location.
We were lucky enough to have 2 nights in a gorgeous deluxe villa. The villa itself looks modern and has everything you could possibly need. Our villa had 3 bedrooms and could sleep up to 8 people. It was beautifully presented, with everything in place and was very clean.
The living area was spacious with couches and a big-screen TV and DVD player, a large dining table, a desk and a separate area with some colourful stool seating to provide another area to hang out in. I can imagine older children enjoying this space together.
The kitchen was well equipped, with everything you could think of, even a coffee machine.
The bathroom had a separate toilet, double shower and a laundry area with a separate basin and washing machine with tumble dryer and a washing line outside.
Each bedroom had a large cupboard for storage and the beds were very comfortable. Linen and towels are also included which helped with packing! The villa had a relaxing deck area with table and chairs which were a peaceful place to sit and read. It was luxury accommodation, and made holidaying with a toddler a little easier to plan for!
We just loved being right on the beach, and the close proximity to the Dolphin Discovery Centre and the town. The park was peaceful and spacious and had a lovely relaxed holiday feel to it. We are looking forward to planning another holiday at Discovery Parks Bunbury Foreshore.
