Did you know that Galup Reserve (formerly known as Lake Monger), located just 5km from Perth City, is a picturesque 110-hectare lake featuring a 3.5km easy walking loop that takes about 45 minutes to complete? With 4 different playgrounds spaced around the lake, this is a popular spot for families to enjoy.
Besides the popular Lake Monger South West Adventure Playground, and the other 2 toddler-friendly playgrounds that is fenced, there is also Lake Monger Reserve South East that is well worth a visit too- especially for older kids looking to burn off their energy.
The star of the playground here at Lake Monger Reserve South East is the Moduplay Fuji Play system- a 9 station ninja warrior styled course that offers plenty of opportunity for climbing, balancing and active play.
Rather than simply climbing and sliding, children can test their balance, coordination, strength and agility across the different obstacles. It gives the playground a more challenging and adventurous feel and encourages children to keep attempting the course and improve their skills.
Feeling competitive? Parents can definitely join in and challenge the course too! There is numbering on the soft-fall rubber flooring, making it easy for the kids to follow along the course.
Younger siblings aren’t forgotten here, as there is a smaller, toddler-friendly sand playground too.
And don’t forget your bikes and scooters, as next to this is the Lake Monger Pump and Jump Track- a well-designed pump track that caters to various skill levels, making it perfect for both beginners and seasoned riders.
The surrounding open space is surrounded by beautiful mature trees, providing shade, which is perfect for family picnics and relaxing while enjoying the local birdlife around the lake. Other amenities include a car park next to the playground, toilet facilities, a picnic table and sheltered seating, fitness equipment, and a basketball court.
