The park is divided into distinct zones so families can easily find an area that suits their childrenโs ages and confidence levels. The elevated Tree Maze is the most striking feature as you arrive. Winding its way through the treetops, this multi-level structure invites kids to climb, crawl and explore.

Along the boardwalks youโll find net tunnels, clatter bridges, climbing walls, cubbies, balancing challenges and plenty of sensory and musical elements to discover as you go

Under the pathways

A highlight for many is the combination of slides, including a giant enclosed yellow slide and blue racing slides that send kids back down to ground level with big smiles.

Towards one end of the Tree Maze thereโs a section that feels gentler and lower to the ground, with smaller slides and cubby spaces that suit younger children or those who are less confident with heights.

Beneath and beside the elevated structure is a fantastic sand play and water engineering zone. Here little builders can shovel and transport sand using conveyor belts, buckets, pulleys and diggers, working together to move material around the โsand factoryโ.

A nearby water pump feeds a shallow creek bed, where kids can manipulate the flow with sluice gates and rocks, experimenting with dams, channels and puddles. This area is brilliant for open-ended, imaginative play and is set up so children of different ages and abilities can join in.

The junior play area has clearly been designed with toddlers and preschoolers in mind. It features gentler play elements such as a cup spinner, dry creek bed, toddler-friendly swings, musical instruments and a sweet bird-themed cubby and nest. The equipment is close to the ground and within easy sight of carers, making it a less intimidating space for new walkers while still offering lots to explore.

Older children and thrill seekers will gravitate to the action play zone. This features a large climbing net structure, a double flying fox (including an accessible seat so kids who need extra support can join the fun) and an array of swings for different ages and abilities, including a giant birds nest swing thatโs perfect for group rides. This area offers more challenge and physical exertion, while still being integrated into the overall layout so siblings of different ages can move between zones easily.

Sensory Play
Sensory and Musical activities are incorporated throughout the park to engage the senses and inspire imagination.

In the sensory garden at the North entry of the park, you will also find an all abilities carousel and an in-ground trampoline.

On warm days, the splash pad becomes the heart of the park. The zero-depth water play area is operated by push buttons and features jets, sprays, showers and interactive water elements that children can activate themselves.

Two cheeky pelican structures slowly fill their beaks before tipping water in a big splash, much to the delight of those standing underneath. Shade sails and the surrounding trees help to keep this area cooler, and the splash pad has been designed so you can choose how wet you want to get, which is helpful for children who are still building confidence with water play.

Kwinana Adventure Park is particularly impressive in its commitment to accessibility and inclusion. Paths throughout the park are built to Australian Standards for Access and Mobility, and the Tree Maze can be traversed end-to-end by wheelchair or mobility scooter, allowing grandparents and carers to accompany children through the elevated play structure. Across the different zones youโll find accessible water pumps, basket swings, sand tables and other play pieces that allow children using wheelchairs or with limited mobility to be active participants. There are also fully accessible sensory elements such as musical instruments, a carousel, disk spinner, sonic bench and marimba, so there are plenty of ways to engage without needing to climb.

Facilities at the park are excellent. The main toilet block includes showers, accessible unisex toilets and a fully accessible Changing Places room with a full-sized change table and hoist, making this a genuinely practical destination for families who require higher-level care.

Throughout the park there are numerous picnic tables, accessible picnic settings, BBQs, drink fountains, bins and shaded areas, as well as plenty of lawn and open space for picnics and play. Most of the Playground sits under a canopy of mature trees, with extra shade structures over the splash pad and some seating areas, which is a big plus on hot days.

One of the standout features for parties and group gatherings is The Patio, a large hireable shelter positioned right beside the action. This covered space includes a kitchenette with a fridge, sink, microwave, kettle, bench space, BBQs and long picnic tables, and comfortably caters for up to around 40 guests. Itโs ideal for birthday parties, family catch-ups or school and playgroup meetups, and can be booked through the City of Kwinana. Even if you arenโt hiring The Patio, there are several smaller shelters and beautifully carved log benches dotted around the park, so itโs easy to find a spot to set up for the day.

Security and safety have clearly been priorities in the design. The Playground is fully fenced with double-gated entry points, which gives parents peace of mind, especially with toddlers and children who like to roam. CCTV operates throughout the facility and the park is regularly patrolled by City Assist. The park is intended for daytime use only and has security/emergency lighting rather than full night lighting. Smoking and alcohol are not permitted within the Adventure Park or on Calista Oval. Dogs are not allowed inside the fenced Playground, though they may be walked on-lead on the surrounding oval under standard local laws.
Access and parking are straightforward. The main entrance is off Walgreen Crescent, where youโll find a dedicated car park right by the gate, as well as additional street parking along the western edge of Calista Oval. If itโs busy, there is overflow parking available in the nearby Kwinana town centre, only a short walk away. The City encourages visitors to walk, cycle or use public transport where possible, and the park is well served by buses, with several Transperth routes (including 540, 541 and 549) stopping nearby. Bike racks are provided at the entrances for those who ride.
The Adventure Park is free to enter and open all year round, with toilets and the splash pad operating seasonally. There is usually a short annual maintenance period when the park or some facilities may be closed, and any planned closures are advertised in advance on the City of Kwinana website. To get the most out of your visit, itโs worth checking current information online before you go, especially if youโre planning to use the water play or book The Patio for a party.
With its blend of big adventure, nature and water play, thoughtful accessibility, excellent facilities and strong focus on safety, Kwinana Adventure Park remains one of Perthโs must-visit destination Playgrounds. Whether you have toddlers just finding their feet, school-aged kids ready to tackle the Tree Maze and flying fox, or a mixed-age group gathering for a celebration, this is a park where you can comfortably spend the whole day.
