Kwinana Adventure Park is larger than Donnybrook Apple Fun Park, has more water play than Hyde Park, features amazing nature play like Naturescape Kings Park and is accessible to all ages and abilities like Yokine Play Space.
Costing $5.2 million to create, the Kwinana Adventure Park features an enormous 11,000 square metres of play space under a large canopy of mature trees, some hundreds of years old!
The huge play space is divided into several different zones:
Tree Maze
The elevated Tree Maze weaves through the natural surroundings, incorporating physical and sensory play activities for all ages and abilities.
The Tree Maze has so much to discover both along and under the elevated pathways. You’ll find net tunnels, climbing walls, bridges, cubby, balancing beams, musical instruments and other delights.
Along the Pathways:
Under the pathways
A big hit was the giant yellow slide nestled next to the blue racing slide.
Towards the end of the Tree Maze is an area more suited to toddlers with smaller slides, cubbyholes and a spinning wheel.
Sand Play Area
Transport sand through a series of conveyor belts, buckets, diggers and pulleys in the Adventure Park’s sand factory play area.
This area also features a smaller climbing area with racing slide.
Plus a water play area where kids can pump the water to create a creek that they can dam off using a series of sluice gates.
Junior Play Area
The toddler area features a cup spinner, dry creek, toddler swings, musical instruments and a Swamp Hen Cubby and nest.
Action Play Area
This area includes a double flying fox with an accessible seat and a variety of swings catering for all ages and abilities. There is also a climbing net structure and a giant birds nest swing.
Sensory Play
Sensory and Musical activities are incorporated throughout the park to engage the senses and inspire imagination.
In the sensory garden at the North entry of the park, you will also find an all abilities carousel and an in-ground trampoline.
Splash Pad
Unique in the design Kwinana Adventure Park’s Splash Pad area is ultimately going to be the most popular area of the park this summer!
Operated by several push buttons the water playground features interactive spouts, showers, jets and sprays.
There are also two pelicans whose beaks full with water which then tip down when full. They are activated by turning the big wheel found at the base of each pelican.
Accessibility is a key feature of the park with each element carefully designed to maximize inclusion for all ages and abilities. The Tree Maze is fully accessible by wheelchair from end to end, with interactive play elements and experiences provided along the way.
Like wise if grandparent reliant on their mobility scooter wishes to follow their grandchild around the park, including the gentle heights of the Tree Maze, they can do so with ease.
Kwinana Adventure Park is fully enclosed and double gated. CCTV also operates throughout the entire playground. Kwinana Adventure Park is a managed play space with two playground staff members on hand in the playground at all times.
Kwinana Adventure Park has the best picnic shelter available for hire that we have come across! The Patio features a kitchenette with a fridge, sink, microwave and BBQ’s. It also has a long table, perfect for a kids party, an additional smaller picnic table and another table for laying out food. The shelter located right next to the water playground and is available to hire for the bargain price of $36 for 3-hour minimum hire.
There are a couple of more picnic shelters dotted around the park that feature the same long party table.
There are also some beautifully carved log benches dotted around the park.
Kwinana Adventure Park is a destination playground where you can easily spend the day. There are plenty of picnic tables, BBQs and water fountains throughout the park. The toilet block includes showers, accessible toilets and a fully accessible changing room with change table and hoist.
Kwinana Adventure Park is located at Calista Oval in Kwinana town centre and you can find shops and cafés within walking distance.
We are very lucky to have a playground of this spec in Perth and for me, it was definitely worth the one hour drive to get there!
