Weeip Park is a NEW (Sept 2021) public open space in Midland that’s perfect for the whole family. It’s got everything from a nature playground to climbing equipment, and it’s all yours to explore! The park was named after Weeip who was the traditional leader of the Boora clan (Boya Ngura people) at the time of European settlement.
Weeip Park includes a new nature playground, the redevelopment of Midland Oval and a youth zone area.
This unique children’s playground includes a variety of educational and fun activities for kids to explore, including a wetland play area, climbing equipment, a huge slide tower and a toddler’s area with a smaller slide.
Another unique addition to this park is the giant insects located throughout the playground. The design concept is based on the habitats of Western Australia’s insects and is designed to inspire curiosity, creativity and an appreciation for our natural environment.
The playground is sand-based, and it has toilets. Around the redeveloped oval there are screen wall pictures that showcase the oval’s sporting life, from cycling to football to highland games and log chopping. There is also a footpath around the oval for kids to ride or scooter around.
The dedicated youth zone area has everything a kid could ever want. There are climbing walls, basketball hoops, climbing frames, fireman’s poles and a really nice open space to just hang out. You can also find shade shelters made from bicycle wheels with a cricket ball and jersey numbers in the design. The yellow and black colour scheme pays homage to the original Midland Junction Football Club.
Weeip Park is an exciting addition to the New Junction in Midland.

I wouldn’t let your kids use the slide, our daughter grazed her arm pretty bad when she went down. Not what you expect from a new playground.
