Tucked along Egerton Drive in Aveley, Vale Adventure Park is a fantastic, activity-packed Playground that makes a brilliant family outing, especially if youโve got children of different ages. Itโs an easy walk from the local IGA and nearby cafes such as Mecca Gourmet, so you can grab a coffee or snacks on your way over.
The first thing that grabs kidsโ attention is usually the dual flying fox. With two sideโbyโside cables, itโs perfect for racing friends or siblings. Older children will manage it easily, but shorter or younger kids may need a hand pulling the seat back up to the platform. In practice this often turns into a team effort, with the next child in line helping to bring it back.

Behind the flying fox is a woodchip play area with a lovely natural feel. Here youโll find a wooden maze that encourages a bit of problemโsolving and chasing games, a small roundabout, plenty of wooden stepping logs and a pyramid climbing net. These elements suit a wide age range and are great for building balance and confidence.

The parkโs slides are a real highlight. Thereโs a small tunnel slide for younger children and a fun roller slide thatโs especially popular with toddlers and preschoolers. The roller slide gives a smooth, gentle ride and is mounted into softโfall โmountainsโ, which confident toddlers can easily scramble up and down. The embankment design means less reliance on ladders and platforms, which can be reassuring for parents of little ones.

Sand play is wellโcatered for with a large sandpit area. Kids can bounce on three wooden spring rockers, clamber over a carved wooden snake and dig for โdinosaur fossilsโ hidden under the sand. To one side of the sandpit thereโs another wooden maze, more stepping and balancing logs, rocks to climb and a crawlโthrough tunnel โ perfect for imaginative play and obstacleโcourse style games.

Water play is another big drawcard at Vale Adventure Park. Water flows from a pushโbutton tap, runs through three wooden troughs and then into a rocky creek bed below. Children can experiment with blocking and redirecting the flow and hopping along the wooden stepping logs beside the higher troughs, which also help smaller kids reach the channels. On warm days this area is irresistible, so be prepared for wet, sandy clothes.

Adding to the sensory fun, thereโs a cluster of musical instruments that children can bang, tap and chime to their heartsโ content. Theyโre designed so theyโre not overwhelmingly loud for nearby adults, but still feel exciting for kids.

Close by thereโs a net (basket) swing that can be enjoyed solo or shared, and scattered around the Playground are cute wooden sculptures that add character and spark little imaginations.

One of the standout features of Vale Adventure Park is how well it caters to mixedโage families. Thereโs something here for toddlers right up to tweens, and plenty in between, making it easier to keep everyone entertained in one place. The layout is thoughtfully designed so that paths and surfaces are pramโ and wheelchairโfriendly, allowing carers to move around the entire Playground and follow smaller children without trouble.

The Playground sits within attractive parkland, with a lake, bridges and fountains creating a scenic backdrop. The play area has partial fencing along the lake edge, but the water is still accessible and Egerton Drive can be fairly busy, so close supervision is important, particularly for toddlers and children who like to wander.

Paths around the lake are ideal for bikes and scooters, and thereโs also a small skate park nearby for older kids who want to practise on their wheels.

Facilities are good for a longer stay. There are BBQs, picnic tables and benches, plus a drinking fountain. Toilets arenโt onโsite but are available at the nearby IGA, around a 400m walk away. Parking is via onโstreet bays along Egerton Drive, which can be limited at busy times.

Dogs are welcome on leash in the park, and thereโs the added bonus of a fully fenced dog exercise area where dogs can be let off lead.

Between the water play, sandpit, climbing structures and bike paths, Vale Adventure Park is the kind of place where you can easily spend a morning or afternoon. Just remember to pack a change of clothes, a towel and maybe some gumboots in winter โ youโre very likely to be taking home some happily exhausted, wet and sandy kids.
