There’s a new playground in Perth’s south! Found at The Links golf course in Port Kennedy, “The Nest” is a great spot for kids to play – particularly if they love golf. Part of the golf club’s redevelopment, it is found right opposite Birdie café and restaurant, making it a great spot for lunch with the family.

As well as the huge slide being an impressive feature, the playground has several mini golf holes. It’s not a traditional mini golf course, there are no hole numbers etc, but it is FREE to play as much as you like. Simply pay a $5 deposit per person at the pro shop for a golf club and coloured golf ball. This will be refundable when they are returned to the shop. When we played about 5 holes out of the seven or so were in operation.
Having the playground to ourselves, it turned into a hole in one challenge, rather than your traditional mini golf game. This spot is also handy for little kids that may not have the attention span for an entire 18holes too.
The huge slide is a load of fun – Little Chef tells me it’s pretty fast too.
It could be tricky for little ones, as there’s netting and ladders to climb to the top.

The playground has plenty of stepping logs, plus, sandpits, little tunnels, soft fall rock walls and more.
There’s lots of fun to be had for all ages!
The golf course’s restaurant, Birdie, is open for lunch and dinner.
A full menu is available, as well as coffee and cake, and kids options.
We stopped by for a coffee and soft drink. If you sit on the balcony, there’s a good view of the playground from here.
There’s no shade at the playground, so be sure to slip, slop, slap. Toilets are found next to the pro shop. If you live in the area The Nest Port Kennedy is a great place for kids to play as part of a family lunch or dinner at the Birdie Restaurant.
