Prince Regent Park Playground in Heathridge is a lovely everyday play spot for local families, especially if youโre already in Perthโs northern suburbs. The wider reserve is a large multi-purpose sporting facility with plenty of open grass, but the Playground area itself feels nicely tucked away, relaxed and family-friendly.
Parking is available on the street just above the Playground. From here, you follow a gentle slope down to the play area, which is set within a sandpit and surrounded by mature trees. Parents will appreciate that the Playground sits below street level, adding a sense of separation from the road and helping little ones stay safely away from traffic.
The Playground has a natural feel thanks to the sand base and timber elements. While there are no shade sails and no toilets on site, the trees do offer some dappled shade at certain times of day. Itโs a good idea to visit in the morning or later in the afternoon, and to bring hats, sunscreen and plenty of water.

A shaded picnic table set slightly lower down, accessed via wide steps, is a lovely spot to sit back with a coffee or set up a simple morning tea while still keeping an eye on the kids at play.

Play equipment here caters for a range of ages, from toddlers through to primary school kids. A double swing set includes a standard swing and one suitable for younger children, and there are hopscotch markings on the ground for simple, old-school fun.

Alongside the sandpit youโll find a nature-inspired wooden beam area thatโs ideal for balancing, climbing and imaginative games, encouraging kids to test their coordination and confidence.

More adventurous children will gravitate towards the rope obstacle cube, which features a spider-web style rope climb thatโs perfect for clambering and hanging.

Another feature is the vault bar set in the sand, a simple yet effective piece of equipment that invites kids to try vaulting, swinging and stretching, helping them build strength and body awareness.

The main play structure is bright and inviting, with something for most abilities. It includes a slide, rock climbing wall, rope bridges, a fire-fighter pole and monkey bars, offering plenty of opportunities for climbing, sliding and swinging. Combined with the surrounding open grassed areas, thereโs lots of room to run around, kick a ball or play simple games, making it a good all-round park for burning off energy.

Prince Regent Park Playground is a great option if youโre looking for a quieter, local-style Playground rather than a big destination play space. Just come prepared with sun protection, water, and perhaps a picnic blanket to spread out under the trees. If youโre keen to grab a drink before or after your visit, Runyeh Coffee in Heathridge is the closest cafรฉ and a handy stop for takeaway coffees and treats.
