Nestled in the quiet suburb of Yanchep, about 47 minutes north of Perth, Parktree Park is a lovely local discovery for families with young children. While it doesn’t have bathroom facilities, it offers a great mix of open space, fun play equipment, and a peaceful setting away from busy roads.
The open grassy area is perfect for a relaxed picnic, a run-around, or some ball games. The playground itself caters for both little ones and slightly older kids with:
- Swings (baby and standard)
- Two slides (one spiral, one gently curved)
- A spring seesaw car
- Rope climbing bridge and wall, rock climbing wall
- Balancing steppers leading up to a climbing frame
- A pretend shop and jail for imaginative play
- A spelling blocks zone to build three-letter words—ideal for early readers and explorers
The whole play area is built in a large sandpit, so bring along sand toys for extra fun. Shade sails weren’t up during our visit, but poles are in place, so hopefully they’ll return. In the meantime, slip, slop, slap, and bring hats and sunscreen to stay sun-safe.
One of the park’s best features is its location—set slightly in a dip with natural vegetation surrounding it, there’s no direct road access into the park itself. This adds a sense of safety, as children can play without the risk of running onto the streets. There are roads and paths around it and plenty of nearby street parking, so it’s still very accessible by car, bike, or on foot.
If you’re in the area, it’s a great place to stop and play. Make a day of it by also visiting Yanchep National Park or cooling off at Yanchep Lagoon.
