Located in the peaceful and picturesque neighbourhood of Bletchley Park Estate in Southern River, Lane Gardens Park provides not one but two fantastic playgrounds to cater for children of all ages. Both sand-based playgrounds are situated beside each other, with one more suitable for children under 5, featuring a toddler-friendly play area, and the other a larger playground for older, adventurous children.
Older kids will enjoy the adventurous playground, which stands higher in height, with the taller slide and more climbing elements. The play structure features a climbing hill that leads up to a ramp for the playground, and it also includes a smaller slide on the opposite side of the surface. Children will love the variety of challenging climbing elements for them to explore, and even a shaky rope bridge to cross over.
This spacious playground also features a rope tunnel, multiple wooden climbing logs, and balancing beams.
Swings are found in the wood chips area.
Across it, the toddler-friendly playground resembles a smaller, scaled-down version of the other playground. The play structures are the perfect height for the little ones to climb onto, with the rope nets and slide being much simpler and easier for them to use. There is also a ramp access to the platform which Missy 7 uses as a slide access to slide down.
The horse rocker and toddler swing are perfect for little ones to enjoy.
There are a couple of sand play tables for them to get hands-on and messy.
Toddlers can use the more appropriate,smaller-scale stepping logs and balancing beams over at this playground.
Creative ones can use this play structure as a pretend play shop or building.
Children can enjoy a scoot or cycle around the many paths at this park. The large turfed area is also perfect for a kickabout.
Shaded seating areas are available in this park, along with BBQ facilities and water fountains. I like that you can actually see both playgrounds at a glance from the shaded seating, which makes it great for parties or picnics. However, there are no toilet facilities here (the closest toilet is a few min’ drive at Southern River Square). Free parking is available along the streets of the park.
Sail shades were on the playgrounds when we visited, but it does not fully cover all the play equipment, so it’s best to bring your sun protection when visiting!
