Attention Perth families!
There’s a brand new, nature and adventure playground located in the beautiful suburb of Treeby, south of the river. Parking is available along Torwood Avenue.
As the name suggests, this playground is situated beside a beautiful man made lake and surrounded by large shady trees which are perfect as we enter the warmer months!
The playground has many exciting areas, there are two slides, one tall slide for the big kids and a smaller slide suitable for younger kids. The bigger of the two can be accessed by climbing up a hanging rope tower or from the smaller slide and over the bridge.
The smaller slide is accessible by another climbing rope, unfortunately for my 2 year old, this was too difficult but that didn’t stop him from trying.
There are plenty of areas for the little ones, though, like the basket swing, the gorgeous dry river bed that snakes around the playground and has a water pump, stones and logs to balance on and explore,
and my daughter’s favourite for the day, a walled cubby with a chalkboard and spinning logs.
There are also some steel cubbies that can be climbed, stepping logs, colourful drums, and activity boards.
In addition to the play equipment, there’s ample grass space to kick a ball, roll around, or relax on.
The walk around the lake is 327m and is fully fenced, making it a very easy and safe walk for the family. You could even bring the bikes or scooters along too. Look out for the pair of binoculars along the walk and try to spot some animals.
With four separate seating areas to rest and take in the view, you’re spoilt for choice. There’s even a communication corner which I thought was a great idea.
The thing that impressed me the most was the relaxation area across from the playground. This area would be great for the kids too! There’s gentle water cascades, bridges and balancing logs over the stream, some sun lounger type seats, a wooden exercise deck and some beautiful plants in the garden.
Scattered around the lake is some beautiful local artwork, our favourite was the steel tree, some historic features such as the white calsil brick and at various points, there are QR codes available to scan. I tested out a few and they take you to pages of some great information about Treeby and beyond.
There few a few BBQs available with plenty of undercover and open seating options and a water fountain with a bowl for the pups. You could easily spend a few hours here with the family. Unfortunately there is no toilet here.
