Just a short drive south of Cottesloe, you can find the Dutch Inn Playground located on Marine Parade, near Princes Street. This upgraded playground was completed in 2021, that offers a great range of features and activities for families to enjoy. With its ship-themed play structure, ninja-style obstacle course, and nature-based play area, this playground promises an adventurous experience against a stunning coastal backdrop.
The main attraction of the playground is the boat-shaped play structure known as “Warton’s Wreck,” named after the Elizabeth, which ran ashore in 1839. For the maritime history enthusiasts, the remnants of this historic wreck can still be seen on the nearby beach at the end of Warton Road. This ship-themed play structure features multi-level decks, cargo and rope climbs, and a couple of slides. On the top deck, visitors can find a rope bridge, providing scenic oceans views.
For older kids and even adults seeking a challenge, the playground offers a ninja-style obstacle course. This structure provides various monkey bars and rope challenges that test one’s agility and strength.
In addition to the shipwreck and the obstacle course, the playground also features a nature-based play area. Children can explore balancing logs, board riders, and a swing.
There is also a spinning carousel that kids always love and makes this corner of the playground ideal for younger visitors.
Other facilities worth noting is that there are picnic tables and grassed picnic areas available for families to enjoy. water fountains and showers are also available for those also visiting the beach. However, it’s worth mentioning that there are no toilets or BBQs within the playground area.
Dutch Inn Playground is a fantastic recreational space that combines adventure, history and beautiful natural surroundings. Whether you’re seeking strength-intensive challenges, imaginative play, or simply a place to relax and enjoy the scenery, Dutch Inn Playground has something for everyone.
