Clarko Reserve is a coastal reserve located at Trigg Beach at the end of Karrinyup Road. The jewel colours of the verdant green grass and shimmering blue sea beyond the dunes is a feast for the eyes.
At a sheltered end of the reserve, near the beach car park, is a good sized playground with equipment to suit a range of children. I feel toddlers through to six year olds would probablyย enjoy this one most.
The playground has three slides, including a tall corkscrew slide, noughts and crosses blocks, a coloured ball abacus, and a fireman pole. Soft sand surrounds the equipment in case of tumbles.

There are a flying fox, monkey bars and swinging rings for taller, stronger children.
There are also four swings, including two toddler swings and two regular swings. This area also includes a hammock to climb on. Miss 2.5 thought it was a good spot to relax in the sun.
Around the playground, there are two shaded picnic tables. These would be perfect for parties or family picnics and offer a good view of the playground so you can see your children at all times. Around the reserve, there are also a number of barbecues available for use.
Clarko Reserve has a number of paths running through and leading to the beach. These would be great for scooting, roller skating and riding bikes. We saw a couple of water fountains dotted along the paths.
Dogs are welcome at Clarko Reserve, but not on the playground equipment. With the vast amount of grassed area to run on, it would be a great place to throw a ball around with your furry friend. While we visited, we saw one man playing frisbee with his dog, which Miss 2.5 thought was brilliant and tried to go join in!
Takeaway coffee and refreshments are available from Canteen Trigg, a short walk across the car park near the beach. Toilets and changing facilities are available, also across the car park.
Overall on the day, we visited we found Clarko Reserve to be very clean, well maintained and family-friendly. The playground isn’t fenced in, so you’ll need to keep an eye on little runners as West Coast Drive does get very busy.
