Carrington Park in Nedlands is a sweet little neighbourhood Playground, perfect for a relaxed play while you grab a takeaway coffee or catch up with friends. Tucked between Weld Street and Carrington Street, it has a welcoming community feel, with a big grassy area, shady trees and the gentle hum of local dog walkers and families passing through.

The Playground itself has been toddler-friendly equipment, making it an easy option for younger children. The main play structure features shorter slides and smaller steps that are ideal for little legs just finding their confidence.

Thereโs also a fun crawling tunnel for babies and toddlers who love to explore, plus a rocking frog that is always a hit with wobblers and preschoolers alike. While the equipment is clearly designed with younger children in mind, older siblings can still enjoy climbing, sliding and imaginative play around the space.

A big plus for families is that the Playground is fully fenced and gated. This gives parents peace of mind, especially with toddlers who like to wander. Just outside the fenced area is a large open grassed space that is popular with local dog owners. Itโs common to see friendly dogs enjoying a run or a game of fetch in the mornings. The dog exercise area is separate from the Playground, so kids can watch dogs from the safety of the fence without having to navigate around them.
The undeniable star of Carrington Park is โBig Berthaโ, a bright yellow 1933 tractor that immediately captures kidsโ imaginations. Big Bertha invites little ones to clamber, pretend to drive and create their own farmyard adventures. Children love climbing up, sitting in the driverโs seat and โsteeringโ as if theyโre off on a grand adventure. Itโs a fantastic, quirky feature that gives this park a unique identity and a lovely sense of history.

Around the play area youโll find shade sails, helping to keep the equipment cooler on warm days. There are also tables and seating, making it convenient to bring morning tea or lunch and stay a little longer. The park also has toilets, which is always helpful when visiting with young children, and adds to its appeal as somewhere you can comfortably linger rather than just make a quick stop.
Carrington Park is best suited to toddlers and younger primary-aged children, thanks to its smaller, accessible equipment, fencing and gentle atmosphere. Itโs a great option if youโre after a quieter local Playground rather than a large regional play space, and the combination of grassed area, mature trees, dog exercise space and the much-loved Big Bertha tractor gives it a lot of character for a relatively small park.
Overall, Carrington Park is a charming, family-friendly spot for a simple outdoor play, especially if you have toddlers or preschoolers who love to climb, slide and explore in a secure environment.

Went in Oct/Nov, the shades weren’t up yet although the weather has warmed up. It’s enclosed with a dog park, which stank, many dog droppings lying around; although not inside the playground enclosure, you can’t get a break from the smell. Fresh air is not available here.
